Sex and Yoga

Blonde caucasian woman with long hair sits behind a desk wearing a black and white zebra print blouse.

I’m Lee-ann, I’m a daughter, I’m a mother, I’m a friend, I’m a wife, I’m a yoga teacher, I’m a business owner, I’m a kinkster, I’m a good girl.

I have so many hats.

I’ve been studying sexology for many years, officially since 2020 and before that, for I don’t know even how long - and I didn't know there was a name for it. But there IS a name and it is

SEXOLOGY

the study of sex, what we do and how we feel about it.

It’s a vast subject, make no mistake.

I’m a gal who really appreciates credentials, and this is why I made my studies official by studying under the pioneer of sex coaching herself, Dr Patti Britton with Sex Coach U to become a Sex Coach and a Clinical Sexologist.

(The number of sexual partners, frequency of getting down and dirty, and boldness in the bedroom does not qualify someone to be a sex coach - just so you know. None of those things actually matter a great deal IMO.)

Human beings have long been fascinated with sex and what people do for pleasure. A short stroll through an art gallery might show you depictions of romantic encounters on a river bank, delving into a history museum will show you carved murals of long-gone peoples in the buff, engrossed in decadent orgies, archeological digs have found ancient examples of phalluses and early dildos.

So it’s not a new topic to be talking about, by any stretch of the imagination.

But for lots of different reasons - social, religious, cultural, we’ve gone through a weird time of being told that sex is bad or seedy, should only be happening between two genders, should only be occurring in a monogamous, committed, heterosexual relationship, and that the male participant's virility, showmanship, and orgasm is what it’s all about.

In my field, which has been the practice of teaching Hatha yoga, connection and unity is a biggie.

And connection and unity are a big deal between the sheets, right? Even if you’re between the sheets playin’ solo because masturbation is the foundation for all partnered sex.

I’ve been teaching yoga for seven years and having been on my own mat since 2000, I know a thing or two about moving your body and the way movement can both relax and energise you.

Often people of all genders tell me they struggle to experience orgasm or orgasm too quickly because they are anxious about the whole shebang. People have even told me things like,

“I hate my body, I don’t want anyone to see me naked.”

For sure, this is an area that yoga can help with because I promise you, it reminds you that all bodies are fucking beautiful and amazing. Yes, I am certain even yours, you gorgeous sex-pot.

I also know how, with the right practice, it can get you hot and steamy under the collar, pressing all the right buttons. Moving your body can bring about high states of arousal. If you’re interested to know more or to get downward dog and dirty with a yoga practice, you can check out one of my Yoga for Sex practices where I’ll show you which movements can help strengthen, tone, and mobilise your body for specific sex positions - whether you have a playmate or not.
