The wetter the better

The wetter the better, as far as I'm concerned!

I'm a certified sex coach, anatomy geek, and sexually active perimenopausal woman, so was I upset when I started to notice changes in my own body?

Fuck yes!

Even though I understood the science of the why 🤯

(If this is your life stage too, we can be Pausal Pals - check out Pause and Unite for some fantastic resources.)

So when I heard a person of influence (300k+ followers) say that if a woman's body wasn't wet, it wasn't working properly and no woman should need 'artificial' lubricants, I was pissed off to the high hilt. I'd share a screenshot of the conversation I had with her in the comments, but it's no longer shared on her feed.... 🙄

Anyway, there are so many reasons why someone might want to play with lube, not least because it's fun and it feels nice.

So there 🖕🏼

So when the lovely people at Luviss asked me to try their personal lubricant, I said

yes please 😇

We'll take a moment to acknowledge that not all lubes are created equal so make sure you've got the right kit. As a general rule, they are

Water-based

Oil-based

(don't use with latex condoms because it can make them less effective)

Silicone-based

(best not to use with silicone toys)

...and lube with spermicide will not help you if you're trying to make babies

I often talk lube with clients - male and female - and some ask me where they can find such treasure - the answer is simple, you can find it in anywhere you might expect to buy condoms or toothpaste like supermarkets, online, or even on Amazon. (If you'd like to Luviss, they want to give my vibe tribe a generous discount, so head here if you're interested. You can also check out their handy guide to buying lube, because researching and learning is sexy.)

It's definitely something I'd recommend having a play around with and you can make it fun.

As always, if it doesn't feel nice, don't do it. There are lots of different types, so if one doesn't suit, maybe another will. You can even get flavoured, warming, tingly or even CBD-infused.

My top tip to leave you with would be to remember to prepare for the clean-up if things get really splashy, so have some tissues or a towel nearby.

💦

with pleasure,
